We have pushed the planet too far, and it’s pushing back. The message our planet is trying to send us is this: Each season is going to be worse than the last. The fires will burn hotter and fiercer, the droughts will be drier, the floods more intense, and the temperatures hotter. The trend which defines our future is the runaway acceleration of catastrophe. Even climate scientists are bewildered by how fast temperatures are rising. Biologists, by how rapidly we’re annihilating life on earth.
In this exhibition members of three local art organizations—A.R.T., Inc., Sun Gallery, and Hayward Arts Council—are using art as a form of expression of love and compassion for our planet and all of the life it contains. Our art is a call to action for all of humanity to work together to secure a good, safe, secure future not only for our children and grandchildren, but for all of the children of the world. We can learn to care for the planet and listen to its needs only when we cultivate love and compassion for Earth and all living things.
