Patti Weiss is a multi-talented, multi-genre violinist, who first picked up the violin at age 6. The bluegrass and jazz styles came naturally to her starting at age 14. Having toured Europe and the Asian continent, she has performed in Paris, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, and lived in India and Thailand for a year at age 19, studying classical Indian music. Moving to Paris at age 25, she studied with famed jazz violinists Didier Lockwood and Jean Luc Ponty. Patti performed with the Gipsy Kings for 3 years, Trans-Siberian Orchestra for 4 years, and Beach Blanket Babylon for 3 years.
Patti’s recordings include two pieces of world music, and a CD with pianist Anna Toso and bassist Scott Thunes. Her latest CD was recorded with Bob Bralove (synth/keys/sound engineer), and film scores for Miramax, Disney, and 20th Century Fox. She composed the sound track with Norbert Stachel for the film “Gas, Food, Lodging” with Fairuza Balk. Patti was also the bandleader in Shaquille O’Neal’s film “Kazaam!” Her upcoming album will be recorded next month, produced by Peter Horvath, and featuring 14-time grammy-winning artist Randy Brecker on trumpet.
The Band:
Joe Brennan, singer/songwriter, guitar, and banjo: Originally from Ithaca, New York, Joe now lives in Oakland and performs all over Northern California for corporate and civic events, including many concerts at the Golden Gate Bandshell.
Rounding out the band are John Givens, guitar, and Brett Gildersleeve, bass, who have collaborated with Joe for many years.
We look forward to seeing you at Lone Tree on August 9th!
